Company Overview

At Advanced Materials, we focus on materials.... so you can focus on results. For more than 20 years, we have pioneered the development and manufacture of CVD zinc-based optical materials and engineered ceramics. With our world-class, CVD manufacturing facility in Weeks Island, Louisiana, and our Sales, R&D, and Precision Ceramic Fabrication Center in Woburn, Massachusetts, we are well positioned for the 21st century.

Chemical Vapor Deposition

Advanced Material’s chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a batch production process in which gaseous chemicals react on a heated surface to form solid crystalline materials. Our unique ability to control temperature, pressure, reactant gas flows and vessel geometry in highly complex chemical processes allows for the large-scale production of bulk slabs or near-net shapes up to several inches thick.

Fabrication

Infrared Materials
Our optical fabrication shop transforms the as-deposited zinc selenide and zinc sulfide into rough-cut shapes or precision-machined and polished blanks. These materials are machined to exacting specifications using a CNC (computer numerical control) Machining Center. A variety of diameter sizes and complex geometries can be fabricated precisely to your toleranced specifications. Materials are routinely processed using a basic 3-step grinding and polishing process to allow for visual inspection. Other finishes are available on a special order basis.

CVD SILICON CARBIDE®
In 1998, Advanced Materials acquired the Chand Associates facility and technology in Spencer, MA. This technology was relocated to our Sales and R&D Center in Woburn Massachusetts. At this facility, we precision fabricate CVD SILICON CARBIDE® components for semiconductor processing equipment, wear, and optical applications.
